HOTELS in BARCALDINE
There are 2 really good ones, and we cannot choose between them
In Barcaldine is Barcaldine house luxury hotel . Good reviews from guests. Facilites are good, service is good, proprietors are welcoming. “Food to die for, says one guest” A country house, built in 1709, it is quite small with only eight bedrooms, but that will make the proprietors look after you. Our opinion is based upon reviews and facilities only, we have no direct experience.
You can stay at Barcaldine Castle. This is a genuine castle, small and very upright but it seems grand. Gillian and I toured it before it became a guest / house hotel and it was crowded with clan history. It is complete with bottle dungeon and secret passages. Very good reviews from guests. “Made me feel like a princess said one”
There are no B&Bs in Barcaldine that we can find on the internet. Sorry. But undoubtedly if you searched around the area you would find some really nice traditional ones. Thank goodness not everyone is yet into the internet age. Even VisitScotland the tourism quango does not list any. Barcaldine is a lovely little hamlet, in the Appin countryside with a distinguished castle. It is just off the A828 between Glencoe 30 mins and Oban 15 minutes. The SeaLife centre is next door.
