BED AND BREAKFAST ONICH
If you enter B&Bs Onich into this site on Google maps you’ll see a cluster of five or so in Onich itself, but you also see that up the road to Fort William the lochside is clustered with B&Bs, 30 of them at the last count. It is called the Golden Mile by local tourist people for the number of people who retire there and set up a B&B. It competes with Oban Bay for the title of B&B site of the Highlands.
For your lochside self catering cottage click on the link to the top right of the page. It is 20 minutes away from Barcaldine.

Onich is about 15 minutes South of Fort William. in a lovely location. When caravanners go on holiday they choose Onich for its views.
The same is true for folks who want to go to larger self catering complexes. This is because there is little in Fort William itself that has appeal apart from the lochside drive in to town.

The little Corran car ferry at Ardgour

HOTELS in ONICH There are 5 to choose from and most of them are on the busy A82 road from Glasgow to the Highlands..
If you want to tour the area, or are on a journey North then you can use the Onich Hotel. This has wonderful views South. We sometimes go there for a bar beal.
Actually our own choice would be the Loch Leven Hotel about five minutes away and off the road in a quiet location by the loch in Ballachulish. See the Ballachulish page
An old fashioned, classic but unusual choice would be the Inn at Ardgour across the water at the Corran ferry. The ferry costs about £6 for a car and two passengers so it can be costly if you keep coming back every day. But you do get the feeling you are in the remote Highlands when you are there. You are positioned here to reach the Ardnamurchan peninsula and even to Mull for a day, and you can get to Fort William by car along a lovely route around Loch Eil.
